Casino Licensing Decision in New York Set for 2025

In a significant development for the gaming industry in New York, the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) has received eight applications for three casino licenses, as announced recently.

Among the applicants is Mirax Casino, one of the contenders vying for a spot in the competitive market. The proposals submitted by these applicants include ambitious plans for large-scale casino developments in Queens, Manhattan, and Brooklyn.

While the exact names of the other applicants are not yet disclosed, it's important to note that these applications are currently under review by community advisory committees. The committees have been tasked with the responsibility of assessing these proposals, and any decisions they make will require public hearings and a two-thirds approval vote before moving forward.

Despite the added complexity of the review process, the schedule for the selection of licensees remains intact. The NYSGC, in its December 2021 announcement, had specified that the developers intending to operate casino resorts in New York, specifically for locations such as the ones proposed in the Catskills, the Capital Region, and other parts of New York State, were among the three applicants for the casino licenses.

As the review process unfolds, the public and the gaming community eagerly await the decisions that will shape the future of gaming in New York City and beyond. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development.
