In the municipality of Atlacomulco, located approximately 130 kilometers northwest of Mexico City, a tragic incident occurred on a busy day. A double-decker tour bus, operated by City Sightseeing Berlin tours, was involved in a collision with a freight train, resulting in ten fatalities.

The accident took place at an unguarded railway crossing in an industrial area. Witnesses reported that the warning signals at the crossing were ignored, and the bus, despite being caught in heavy traffic, proceeded onto the tracks.

According to Canadian Pacific Kansas City, the railway company involved in the accident, the bus driver, identified as JΓΆrg or Klaus, attempted to make it across before the oncoming train. However, the bus was already in the middle of the tracks when it was struck sideways by the train traveling at high speed. The impact caused the bus to be dragged several meters along the tracks.

The Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico reported that over 60 people were injured in the accident. Unfortunately, no new information about the condition of the injured individuals was provided.

The bus was waiting at the unguarded railway crossing when the incident occurred. It is unclear what may have led the driver to disregard the danger posed by the oncoming train. No further details about the cause of the accident were provided.
