Catastrophe at Düsseldorf EC: 6-3 defeat at the hands of Iserlohn Roosters

The Düsseldorfer Eis Adler faced a tough loss against the Iserlohn Roosters in a crucial match for both teams. The head coach leading the Adler in the 2025/26 season is Rich Chernomaz, who reported on the losses during the game.

The Roosters took an early lead in the first period with two goals, and it was Christian Thomas who opened the scoring at 5'03. Taro Jentzsch extended the lead on a counterattack at 16'30, leaving Düsseldorf struggling to keep up.

However, Tyler Gaudet managed to score for Düsseldorf at 23'07, making it 3:1. This momentary hope was short-lived as Tyler Boland scored for Iserlohn at 22'59, restoring the three-goal advantage.

Jake Virtanen added another goal for the Roosters on a rebound at 27'05, making it 4:1. Shane Gersich then capitalised on a breakaway at 29'43, pushing the score to 5:1.

Brendan O'Donnell scored for Düsseldorf with an assist from Gaudet at 38'41, offering a glimmer of hope at 5:2. But the Roosters responded through Boland once more at 50'37, sealing the victory at 6:2.

Laurin Braun scored a consolation goal for Düsseldorf at 58'48, but it was too little, too late, as the final whistle blew with a score of 6:3 in favour of Iserlohn Roosters.

Düsseldorf had more shots on goal during the game (12-7), suggesting they had opportunities to score, but ultimately failed to capitalise. The team's next challenge comes in Cologne on Sunday at 4:30 PM.

Meanwhile, the Augsburger Panthers managed to tie the game against Löwen Frankfurt in the final minute, securing a point in their match. Moritz Wirth returned to the Düsseldorf team, while Alec McCrea was absent for personal reasons.

The game against Iserlohn Roosters marked another disappointing result for Düsseldorf, who now find themselves back at the bottom of the table. The team will need to regroup and improve their performance in the upcoming match against Cologne to avoid slipping further.
