Cathedral School of Magdeburg and its accompanying Sparrows initiate the fresh academic term
In the heart of Magdeburg, Germany, the Magdeburg Cathedral Singing School and its affiliated group, Domspatzen, are fostering a love for music and creating an intergenerational sound. These two ensembles, under the roof of the Magdeburg Cathedral, welcome children, teenagers, and adults to participate in their projects.
The Magdeburg Cathedral Singing School, led by Director Sabine Lattorf, focuses on providing comprehensive music education. This includes voice training, music reading, and performance opportunities within the cathedral setting. The school's repertoire is diverse, exploring a variety of songs and works. Latecomers from grade 5 are also welcome, by arrangement.
For the youngest musicians, the Magdeburg Cathedral Music offers the Domspatzen group for children in 1st and 2nd grade. This group, too, is open to new singers. Rehearsals for both the Domspatzen and the Magdeburg Cathedral Singing School take place in the rehearsal room of the Cathedral Choir near Fürstenwall, with the Domspatzen rehearsing on Tuesdays from 4-4:45 PM, and the Singing School on Thursdays from 4-5 PM.
The Magdeburg Cathedral Singing School regularly performs in large concerts with the Magdeburg Cathedral Choir, showcasing their talents in the magnificent Magdeburg Cathedral. These performances provide opportunities for new friendships and further enrich the musical tradition of the cathedral.
