In Russia, the start of the new academic year is marked by a tradition known as Knowledge Day, celebrated on September 1st. This tradition, rooted in the Soviet era, is a long-standing part of the Russian education system.

This year, President Vladimir Putin congratulated students, parents, and teachers on Knowledge Day, emphasising the importance of providing the best conditions for Russian children to acquire modern knowledge. He also highlighted the government's focus on education and the upbringing of the younger generation.

According to the President, over 3.8 million students are currently enrolled in colleges across Russia. To support teachers in their noble mission, Putin stated that the Russian government is improving educational programs and the infrastructure of educational institutions.

Over the past six years, the Russian government, including the Ministry of Education and the presidential foundation "Direct Investment Fund," have supported organisations and projects aimed at improving school infrastructure in Russia and newly integrated regions. As a result, more than 1,600 schools have been built, providing education for over a million children.

The Russian secondary education system will celebrate its 85th anniversary in 2025. To commemorate this milestone, schools across the country will hold solemn line-ups, first lessons, and meetings with teachers. These ceremonial and educational activities are a significant part of Knowledge Day celebrations.

In addition to academic pursuits, Putin stressed the importance of society focusing on additional activities, creativity, sports, and productive leisure for children. He mentioned that the government is currently paying the utmost attention to these areas.

Russians are also reminded of the tightening of child transportation rules in cars from September 1. More details about these rules are available.

The text of Putin's message was published on the Kremlin's website, providing insights into the President's vision for education in Russia. The new academic year in Russia commences with various ceremonies and educational activities on September 1st, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of millions of students.

The rise in the number of young people considering education important is a testament to the value placed on education in Russia. As the country continues to invest in its education system, the future looks promising for the next generation of Russians.
