Celebrity Blake Lively exhibits some apprehension upon her unsettling re-emergence into the limelight
After months of legal battles and personal issues, Blake Lively made her first public appearance in New York on Friday. The 38-year-old actress attended the Glossy Pop NYC event to promote her haircare brand, Blake Brown.
Lively's demeanor during the event was far from her usual confident self. She was initially awkward and nervous, a fact noticed by fans and insiders. The actress, known for her poised and polished public persona, appeared uneasy and spoke quickly, repeating herself and using the word "umm" frequently.
Despite her initial apprehension, Lively warmed up as the event progressed. She apologised to people sitting on the side of the stage because her back was turned towards them, and even joked about a fan from Canada, suggesting they could have hitched a ride with her husband Ryan Reynolds.
The appearance at Glossy Pop was Lively's first public outing since the collapse of her friendship with Taylor Swift. The legal issues have affected their relationship, although Swift is not a direct party in the ongoing dispute.
Lively is currently embroiled in a sexual harassment lawsuit against her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni. Baldoni responded with a $400 million defamation lawsuit against Lively, which was dismissed in June 2025. Lively is now suing Baldoni for millions in damages citing a law protecting survivors of weaponized defamation lawsuits. Whether Swift will testify remains uncertain as of the scheduled trial in early 2026.
Interestingly, a TikTok posted by Lively was actually filmed months before its release. The actress has been retreating from the spotlight due to these issues, and dislikes filming social media clips. Lively described herself as a shy person in the industry.
Despite the challenges, Lively remains focused on her work. She is promoting her haircare brand and is expected to return to the big screen soon.
