Chaotic Scene at Lindenplatz, Lübeck: 97 Infractions Detected Within Two Hours (Political: HL-St. Lorenz)
Lübeck Police Conduct Traffic Control at Lindenplatz, Record Over 90 Violations
On September 4, 2025, officers from the 2nd Police Precinct (2. Polizeirevier) of the Lübeck Police Directorate carried out a traffic control operation at Lindenplatz. The purpose of the controls was to reduce the risk of traffic accidents at the busy intersection in the long term.
During the two-hour operation, a total of 97 violations were recorded. The majority of these, 66, were due to the ban on crossing solid lines from the inner to the outer lane in the direction of Moislinger Allee and Puppenbrücke.
Traffic accidents often occur at the entrances and exits of the Lindenplatz, particularly when turning, turning off, or crossing. To address this issue, the focus of the controls was on enforcing this specific traffic rule.
In addition to the violations related to the solid line ban, over 30 more violations were registered, including 17 cases of unsecured seat belts, 5 cases of mobile phone use during the journey, and one case of improperly secured children in the car.
One notable incident involved a woman from Lübeck who was temporarily prohibited from using any driver-licensed motor vehicles due to strong alcohol intoxication. Her preliminary breath alcohol test showed a value over 1.2 per thousand. A doctor took a blood sample from the woman for further analysis.
