Chelsea Flower Show 2024: Comprehensive List of Exhibits Focusing on Plants

The All About Plants gardens category, introduced in 2022, is once again showcasing the positive power of plants to improve livelihoods at this year's RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Six unique gardens, each with its own distinct theme and design, are on display.

One such garden is the Pulp Friction: Growing Skills Garden, designed by Will Dutch & Tin-Tin Azure-Marxen of Dutch Landscape Architects LTD. This garden, sponsored by Project Giving Back supporting Pulp Friction CIC, is inspired by urban foraging and skateparks and is modeled after the most productive organic system in Britain - deciduous woodland. The central feature of this garden is a hoop constructed from recycled fire hoses. After the show, the garden will find a new home in Bestwood, Nottingham.

Another noteworthy garden is the Sue Ryder Grief Kind Garden, sponsored by Project Giving Back supporting Sue Ryder. Designed by Katherine Holland, this garden provides a peaceful sanctuary to share experiences of grief. Taking inspiration from the area's history in lace production, the garden features a range of sensory perennial plants and unusual specimen trees. Following the show, the garden will be relocated to Sue Ryder's St John Hospice in Bedford.

The Bowel Research UK Microbiome Garden, designed by Chris Hull and Sid Hill, champions the importance of the gut microbiome. Featuring a serpentine charred-oak wall and a wildflower meadow, this garden is a testament to the intricate relationship between plants and human health.

The Panathlon Joy Garden, designed by Penelope Walker, is inspired by the disability sports charity Panathlon and aims to be the first wheelchair accessible All About Plants garden. After the show, the garden will be relocated to the Marjorie McClure School in Chislehurst.

The Planet Good Earth Garden, designed by Betongpark and Urban Organic, highlights the importance of sustainable urban living. Featuring a granite skate ramp and a canopy of fruit trees, this garden showcases how urban spaces can be transformed into productive and eco-friendly environments.

Last but not least, the Pulp Friction: Growing Skills Garden, sponsored by the charity organization Pulp Friction CIO, supports learning disabled and autistic people to enter the workforce. The garden consists of trees, shrubs, bushes, and perennials, all edible or useful, demonstrating the potential of horticulture as a vocational skill.

Each of these gardens offers a unique perspective on the power of plants, showcasing the creativity and innovation that the All About Plants category brings to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
