Brandon Breeden, a member of the Ford F-150 Lightning Owners Group on Facebook, recently compared his 2024 F-150 Lightning Flash with his father's 2025 Silverado EV LT, both equipped with luxury packages and extended ranges.
The Ford F-150 Lightning, a stalwart in the American automotive industry, has been the best-selling truck in the United States for over four decades. With its latest iteration, Ford has given the F-150 a lithium-ion heart, making it one of the best-selling vehicles of all time. The 2024 F-150 Lightning Flash, in particular, boasts a sleek design and high-quality materials, setting it apart from its predecessors.
Measuring approximately 233.1 in long, 83.8 in wide, and 78.7 in tall, the F-150 Lightning is a formidable presence on the road. It offers an EPA-estimated range of up to 460 miles (standard trims) and 492 miles for the 8WT/Max Work Truck trim. Under the hood, the F-150 Lightning delivers up to 785 lb-ft torque and 760 hp (in Max/tow-haul mode).
One of the standout features of the F-150 Lightning is its Multi-Flex Midgate, which allows for bed extension, and a spacious 11 cu ft frunk. The frunk, or front trunk, is bigger and easier to use compared to traditional trucks, providing ample storage for daily essentials. It is faster and offers innovative features like a power tailgate, directional headlights, and a smarter step design. The F-150 Lightning also has a lockable, weather-sealed front cargo space and a trailer capacity of up to 12,500 lb.
Ford has equipped the F-150 Lightning with advanced off-road tech like four-wheel steer and Sidewinder diagonal steering. However, the new F-150 is silent, a stark contrast to its traditional gas-powered counterparts. Despite extensive search efforts, the name of an automotive journalist from Atlanta, Georgia who tested the Ford F-150 Lightning and published the results was not found.
