Children's Educational Performance in Dusseldorf: Addressing Sexual Misconduct in Sports
On March 22, 2025, from 2 to 4 pm, the Düsseldorf City Sports Association e.V. and SFD '75 e.V. will be hosting a prevention theater performance for children aged 8-11 at the Simple Gymnastics Hall in the Niederheid Sports Park, Paul-Thomas-Straße 35, 40589 Düsseldorf.
The theater piece, titled "Anne Tora, we are strong," was developed by theater educator Anja Bechtel as part of a pilot project in North Rhine-Westphalia. The performance aims to introduce children to topics such as feelings, touches, boundary crossings, and "seeking help" in various sports situations.
During the performance, children are encouraged to provide feedback using red, yellow, and green cards about their feelings in each scene. Immediately after the theater performance, children can voluntarily participate in a workshop to discuss and deepen what they've seen.
The venue for the performance is the Simple Gymnastics Hall in the Niederheid Sports Park, Paul-Thomas-Straße 35, 40589 Düsseldorf. The maximum number of participants, including parents, is 50.
This event is part of the "Quality Alliance for the Protection against Sexualized Violence in Sports" project in North Rhine-Westphalia. SFD '75 and Düsseldorf City Sports Association are extending the prevention theater program to all interested Düsseldorf sports clubs.
Parallel to the children's workshop, an information event for parents and coaches on the topic of quality alliance and sexualized violence in sports will take place.
The project is a collaboration between the City Sports Association Dortmund e.V., the North Rhine-Westphalia State Sports Association, and the Düsseldorf City Sports Association e.V. and SFD '75 e.V.
