China visit by Prime Minister underscores collaborative stance: Embassy Statement
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's Visit to China: Strengthening Ties and Showcasing Achievements
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is set to embark on a significant visit to China in August 2025, marking a new milestone in the flourishing Vietnam-China relations. The visit, guided by the "six major orientations" framework, will see the Prime Minister participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit 2025 as a guest of the host country.
The SCO Summit 2025, held in Tianjin, attracted over twenty leaders of countries and heads of several international organisations. The focus of the summit was on cooperation in security and counterterrorism, as well as partnership in economy, connectivity, culture, education, and tourism.
During the summit, PM Chinh is expected to meet with Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, as well as hold a series of meetings with senior Chinese leaders, ministers, and leading business groups and corporations. The meetings will focus on major directions and measures to implement common perceptions, improving the effectiveness of intergovernmental committees for cooperation, and stepping up bilateral ties in areas such as economy-trade, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, education, tourism, health, and infrastructure connectivity.
The ambassador expressed his confidence that PM Chinh's visit will be a resounding success and stand as a new highlight in the current flourishing stage of Vietnam-China relations. The visit also coincides with the seventy-fifth anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and China, as well as the Vietnam-China Year of Humanistic Exchange 2025.
PM Chinh's activities during the SCO Summit 2025 will help deepen economic, trade, and investment ties with Asian and European partners. His attendance and remarks at the expanded SCO summit provide an opportunity for Vietnam to showcase its socio-economic achievements on a multilateral stage.
Moreover, PM Chinh will meet with the Vietnamese community and students in China, demonstrating support for overseas Vietnamese and encouraging stronger people-to-people exchanges. This visit affirms Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification, and multilateralisation. It also reflects Vietnam's rising international stature and reputation, as marked by PM Chinh's attendance at the SCO Summit 2025, which is the first time a key Vietnamese leader has attended a SCO summit.
In conclusion, PM Chinh's visit to China and participation in the SCO Summit 2025 are significant steps towards strengthening bilateral ties, promoting economic cooperation, and showcasing Vietnam's achievements on a global stage. Both sides are expected to push forward with existing agreements to deliver tangible benefits for the people of both nations, broadening exchanges and cooperation, and creating opportunities to spread Vietnam's images and reaffirm its role and stature.
