In a significant meeting on August 31, 2025, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh gathered with representatives of the Vietnamese community in China. The event took place during the Prime Minister's working trip to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit 2025 in Tianjin city.

The Prime Minister acknowledged the significant contributions of the overseas Vietnamese community, particularly the community in China, in fostering friendship and people-to-people exchange with the host country, strengthening the Vietnam-China relationship. He expressed hopes that the Vietnamese community in China will continue to be proud of their cultural identity imbued with national pride and their dedication and contributions to the Vietnam-China friendship.

Prime Minister Chinh emphasised the country's focus on developing science and technology and innovation, and promoting international integration as part of a "revolution in rearranging the country". He encouraged Vietnamese students in China to actively learn Chinese knowledge and experience to contribute to the home country's construction and development.

The Prime Minister also encouraged the Vietnamese community in China to remain united and integrated, comply with local laws, promote national pride, and make positive contributions to the friendship and cooperation between the two countries. He sent warm regards, respectful greetings, and best wishes from Party General Secretary To Laam and other Party and State leaders to the Vietnamese community in China on the occasion of the eightieth anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2).

The Vietnamese Ambassador to China, Pham Thanh Binh, reported that the Vietnamese community in China is a united, close-knit, dynamic, creative community with strong patriotism and national spirit. Ambassador Binh always strives to contribute to promoting the relationship between the two countries.

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh, and leaders of ministries, departments, sectors, and central agencies were also in attendance. Notable persons present included Chinese leader Xi Jinping and other heads of state and government from SCO member countries attending the summit in Tianjin, China.

In meetings with leaders of the host country, the Prime Minister consistently advocated for favorable conditions for the overseas Vietnamese community. The government leader affirmed the Party and State's commitment to paying attention to the overseas Vietnamese community, addressing their concerns, and facilitating their lives.

The Prime Minister's meeting with the Vietnamese community in China underscores the importance of the overseas Vietnamese community in strengthening the ties between Vietnam and China, and the government's ongoing efforts to support and empower this community.
