City authorities are funneling more than 200,000 euros into the refurbishment of the Zonser Street playground.

The playground at Zonser Street is set for a comprehensive renovation, with the city administration investing over 200,000 euros in the project. The renovated playground will offer a variety of new features and improvements, designed with the children's ideas at the forefront.

Mayor Erik Lierenfeld stated that the new playground is "by children for children". This sentiment is reflected in the plans, which include a sand play area with playhouses, swings for toddlers and schoolchildren, and modern movement offerings such as a climbing and sliding combination, a motor skills path, a bird's nest swing, and a spinning stand carousel.

Around 40 children participated in a workshop and contributed their wishes and suggestions, which form the basis of the renovation plans. The goal is to create a playground that is shaped by the children themselves, providing a place where they can feel at home.

Existing woodland will be preserved during the renovation, with new trees being planted to enhance the natural beauty of the playground. The entrance area will also be renovated as part of the project, and benches, a seating area, and a lawn will be added for the comfort of parents and guardians.

The construction of the new playground is scheduled to start in the first half of 2026, with preliminary planning, including tendering and commissioning of the construction company, being completed this year. However, the company assigned for the project has not been specified in the available search results.

The renovation project aims to offer a variety of play opportunities for children of all ages, while preserving the existing zip line and enhancing the natural surroundings. The new playground is set to be a vibrant and engaging space for children, promoting physical activity, creativity, and social interaction.
