In the heart of Bochum, Germany, on August 26, the local police force took to the streets for a targeted operation aimed at improving road safety and enforcing traffic regulations. The operation, which ran from 7 am to 3 pm, included both stationary and mobile traffic checks.

The focus of this operation was particularly on cyclist violations and those against them. A total of 184 vehicles were inspected during the operation, including 45 e-scooters, 75 bicycles, 28 pedelecs/e-bikes, and 36 cars. The violations included unauthorized sidewalk use, prohibited passenger transport on e-scooters, and seat belt violations. Other traffic offenses such as red light and speeding violations were also penalized, resulting in a total of 44 warning fines being issued.

To further engage with citizens and provide road safety tips, the traffic accident prevention team set up an information booth in the city center. Here, visitors could ask questions, learn more about how to better protect themselves in road traffic, and receive practical advice.
