City Core of Bochum Highlights: Cycling On Its Streets
The Bochum Police recently carried out a targeted operation to improve safety on the city's roads. The operation, which took place from 7 am to 3 pm on August 26, aimed to address both violations by cyclists and offenses against them.
During the operation, a total of 184 vehicles were inspected, including 45 e-scooters, 75 bicycles, 28 pedelecs/e-bikes, and 36 cars. As a result of the checks, 44 warning fines were issued for various traffic violations such as unauthorized sidewalk use, prohibited passenger transport on e-scooters, seat belt violations, red light violations, and speeding.
The Bochum Police's primary goal remains the promotion of traffic safety in the city. To this end, they set up an information booth in the city center to answer questions, engage in conversations, and provide traffic safety tips. Experts at the information booth were reported to have had many conversations with citizens during the operation. However, no new information was provided about these conversations or the practical tips provided at the information booth.
The operation included targeted traffic checks both stationary and mobile. No new specific details about the number of vehicles inspected, violations found, or fines issued in the recent operation were provided. The Bochum Police intends to continue conducting regular operations to enhance road safety.
