City Hall expresses gratitude for your dedication towards the 2025 honors service.
In the heart of Kulturhof Knechtsteden, Dormagen's city administration hosted a special event on August 31 - the Volunteer Reception 2025. Over 500 volunteers gathered to celebrate their commitment and dedication to the community.
Mayor Erik Lierenfeld welcomed the guests, expressing his gratitude for their efforts. He highlighted volunteering as highly valued in Dormagen, stating, "Your contributions make a significant difference in our city."
The evening was filled with entertainment, as JΓΌrgen "Archie" Deneke took the stage, performing as Udo Lindenberg. Michael Singendonk provided the musical program, ensuring the event was a memorable one.
Several notable figures were present, including Bernd Gellrich from Diakonie and Martin Voigt from Currenta. TSV Bayer Dormagen e.V. was also in attendance, distributing free tickets for the next home game of the handball second division team.
Information booths were set up, offering opportunities for learning about further volunteer engagement options. One such initiative is the BrotZeit NRW project, led by Pastor Michael Schumacher. This project provides a free breakfast for children at three elementary schools daily.
Lierenfeld also highlighted the BrotZeit NRW project as an example of new volunteer initiatives in the city. Another initiative is the expansion of Senior Lunch Tables throughout the city, with opportunities in ten districts for seniors to come together for a meal and exchange ideas once a week.
The Stadtbad- und Verkehrsgesellschaft (SVGD) supported the event, ensuring its success. A large drone photo of all guests and organizers was taken during the event, capturing the spirit of the evening.
