Gießen to Undergo Major Fiber Optic Network Expansion

The city of Gießen is set for a significant leap into the digital future with the expansion of its fiber optic network, a joint initiative between the City of Gießen and TNG Stadtnetz GmbH. This move aims to ensure digital participation for all citizens and boost the local economy.

The expansion has already begun in several city districts, including Lützellinden, Allendorf, Kleinlinden, Weiskirchen, Rödgen, and Petersweiher, with civil engineering work underway in Rödgen and construction measures set to start in Kleinlinden soon. The neighboring municipalities of Pohlheim and Fernwald have already benefited from this high-performance fiber optic network.

TNG Sales Manager Kilian Ortwein expressed his enthusiasm for the cooperation, stating that the goal is to advance the fiber optic expansion in Gießen quickly and efficiently. Mayor Frank-Tilo Becher of Gießen echoed this sentiment, calling the expansion of this modern infrastructure a significant step towards the digital future of the city.

House connections on private property will be established throughout the expansion area, ensuring quick availability of fiber optic connections for households after the completion of the route. Around 14,000 households have the opportunity to connect to TNG's high-performance fiber optic network.
