News Article: Multiple Forest Fires Rage Across Spain

A series of forest fires have broken out across various regions in Spain, causing evacuations and mobilizing emergency services.

In the Cáceres region of Las Hurdes, a fire has scorched approximately 2,778 hectares, forcing the evacuation of over 200 people. The residents of the Hurdano village of Avellanar, who were evacuated, were allowed to return to their homes today.

Meanwhile, in the parish of Terroso in Vilardevós, Ourense, a fire started at 23:04 on Friday. The fire in Vilardevós is currently at level 2 of emergency due to its proximity to population nuclei. To combat the blaze, 4 technicians, 27 agents, 34 brigades, 26 water pumps, 6 shovels, 10 helicopters, and 9 planes have been mobilized. The mayor of Vilardevós, Eva Pérez, has recommended that the population confine themselves due to the smoke in the area. The temporary confinement of the population of Dona Elvira and the neighborhood of As Picotas was also decreed.

The Xunta of Galicia has activated level 2 as a preventive measure in Vilardevós. Pedro Blanco, the delegate of the Government in Galicia, is in constant contact with the mayor of Vilardevós.

Elsewhere in Galicia, the Ministry of Rural Affairs has mobilized resources to manage fifteen fires in the region, six of which were active at the time. The fires in Porto do Son-Minortos in A Coruña and A Cañiza have been controlled, with 28 hectares and 300 hectares burned respectively.

Another active fire is in the Ponteceso municipality, parish of Cospindo, affecting 55 hectares.

In Valencia, a forest fire has occurred in the Vegetation area near the Turia River in the municipal term of Riba-roja. Level 1 of the Special Fire Plan (PEIF) has been established to combat the fire.

Finally, a forest fire in Dehesa del Piorno, Lepe, Huelva, is causing a dense smoke visible from several points of the western coast of Huelva. Personnel from the Infoca Plan of the Junta de Andalusia are working on the fire that affects a shrub mass in the area.

The fire in the Barranco de las Cinco Villas, Valley of the Tietar, has been controlled, with estimates suggesting that it may have burned around 2,200 hectares, most of them reforestation.

As the fires continue to rage, emergency services and local authorities are working tirelessly to contain the blazes and ensure the safety of the public.
