Civil Unrest and Vehicle-Related Incidents: Property Damage, Road Accidents, Motor Scooter Thefts, Checkpoint Resistance, Forced Evacuations After Gas Leaks, Disputes, Kitchen and Car Fires
In a series of events over the past few days, several incidents and accidents have occurred across the region.
In Metzingen, a traffic accident near the Rommelsbach Bridge caused approximately 35,000 euros in property damage and injured four people. The collision involved a Fiat Sedici that collided at low speed with the corner of the rear of a parked Audi A1. The driver sustained minor injuries and the rescue service attended to the scene. The accident occurred on Thursday morning between Pliensauvorstadt and Bühl.
On the same day, a dispute between two residents at a facility in Nürtinger Street resulted in one resident being injured with a knife. The older man allegedly injured the younger one on the arm. The dispute took place around 8:10 a.m.
In an unrelated incident, a car caught fire in Unterhausen due to a woman pulling the handbrake and revving the engine to such high RPMs that the car started burning in the engine compartment at a red light. The woman had to be taken to a clinic after the incident, and her car had to be towed away.
In Münsingen, a gas leak at the Auingen Industrial Park led to the evacuation of multiple stores and the deployment of emergency services. Employees of a local energy supplier turned off the gas supply after the leak, and the cordoned-off and evacuated area was reopened around 6:30 PM. It is currently believed that the gas leak was caused by a technical malfunction.
On the federal road B313 in Pfullingen, a motorcyclist without a helmet was stopped by police. Elsewhere, a motorcyclist suffered severe injuries in a traffic accident on the B10 near Esslingen. The motorcyclist was riding a Kawasaki and collided with a Peugeot Expert due to the latter braking due to traffic congestion.
In Albstadt, a driver sustained minor injuries in a traffic accident on Wednesday evening in Johannes-Mauthe-Straße. In Reutlingen, a Peugeot motorcycle was stolen from Bismarckstraße between Wednesday and Thursday.
A kitchen fire occurred at a restaurant in Wendlingen's Bahnhofstraße on Wednesday afternoon, but the staff and guests were reportedly unharmed. The fire department fully extinguished the fire and the ventilation.
In a more serious incident, a 74-year-old driver caused a severe traffic accident near Metzingen between Friday and Saturday, resulting in four people seriously injured and approximately 35,000 euros in damages. The heavily intoxicated woman refused to take an alcohol test and attacked the officers with punches and kicks during the police measures. After a blood test, her driver's license was confiscated.
In a separate incident, a collision on Christian-Völter-Straße in Metzingen resulted in approximately 11,000 euros in property damage. Unknown perpetrators caused property damage at a company building in Reutlingen, estimated to be several thousand euros.
The Esslingen traffic police have taken over the investigation of the accident near Metzingen and the incident involving the intoxicated driver in Unterhausen.
