Classroom inferno at FW Hannover
The Hannover Fire Department responded to a smoke incident at the Friedrich-Ebert-School in the Badenstedt district on Friday afternoon. The exact cause of the fire is currently unknown, with investigations underway to determine the origin.
The fire department, along with 36 emergency services personnel and 16 vehicles, were quickly on the scene after the incident was reported via emergency number 112 at approximately 14:35. Before the arrival of the emergency services, all 66 students were safely evacuated by the teaching staff.
Upon arrival, two breathing apparatus teams from the fire department began firefighting with a hose line. High-pressure fans were used to ventilate the classroom and adjacent classrooms to remove smoke, and the smoke was located on the 2nd floor of the school building, with dense smoke coming out of an open window.
During the operation, there were traffic disruptions on the street Am Soltekamp. The smoke incident was handed over to the police for further investigation, and the scene has since been cleared.
