Asus ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X: New PC Gaming Handhelds Announced
Asus and Microsoft have announced the upcoming release of two new PC gaming handhelds, the Asus ROG Xbox Ally and the Xbox Ally X. These devices are set to hit the shelves on October 16 and will be available in the US, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and other regions where the existing Asus ROG Ally and Ally X are currently sold.
Both devices boast impressive specifications. The Asus ROG Xbox Ally is equipped with an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor and 16GB LPDDR5X-6400 RAM, while the Xbox Ally X features an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor and 24GB LPDDR5X-8000 RAM. Both devices come with a 7-inch, 1080p, IPS, 120 Hz, FreeSync Premium, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus display for smooth and vibrant gameplay.
To enhance ergonomics, the Xbox Ally systems have been designed with controller-style grips. They also come with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4 for seamless networking. These handhelds will run on a special version of Windows 11 designed for easier control with joysticks and buttons, and they will run on Windows 11 Home.
One notable feature of the Xbox Ally systems is their upgradeable M.2 2280 SSDs. The Ally will come with a 512GB SSD, while the Ally X will feature a 1TB SSD, both of which are upgradeable.

At Gamescom, Asus will have a selection of games available to play on the Xbox Ally handhelds, including Gears of War: Reloaded, Final Fantasy VII: Remake Intergrade, Doom: The Dark Ages, Hogwarts Legacy, Lies of P, Balatro, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and Roblox.
