Collapsing ceiling due to lightning strike produces deafening sound
In the quiet residential area of Bachgasse, in the Ravensburger district of Oberzell, a dramatic event unfolded on September 4th at 5:55 PM. A lightning strike, powerful enough to cause a stir, struck a local property.
The incident was witnessed by a neighbour who promptly alerted the fire department. In response, the Ravensburg Fire Department, along with the Red Cross and local police, rushed to the scene. A total of 47 personnel were present, with two patrol cars on site and twelve Ravensburg fire trucks, including the turntable ladder from Weingarten Fire Department, deployed.
Fortunately, no one was present in the affected residence at the time of the strike, and no injuries were reported. However, damage was caused to electronics in the residence, and the intensity of the strike was such that it caused a ceiling to collapse. Thankfully, the lightning strike did not ignite a fire.
The Ravensburg Fire Department is currently conducting a thorough search of the house to ensure there are no potential fire hazards. Denise Kirsinger, the spokesperson for the Ravensburg Fire Department, provided updates on the situation.
On a positive note, the storm in the Ravensburger district did not last long, and it resulted in ping-pong ball-sized hailstones at Lake Constance, but no further significant damage was reported.
In the coming days, a high-pressure system is expected to bring a change in weather to Baden-Württemberg. The search results do not provide information about the name of the person who leads the weather forecast centre in Baden-Württemberg.
Stay tuned for further updates as the situation develops.
