Collision at intersection resulted in injuries
A traffic accident occurred in Reinickendorf yesterday afternoon, involving a Mercedes and a VW. The intersection of Eichborndamm/Waldstraรe/Wittestraรe was closed for nearly six hours to facilitate the investigation.
The driver of the Mercedes, a 46-year-old individual, remained unharmed. However, the 46-year-old passenger in the Mercedes and the 44-year-old VW driver are still receiving treatment in hospitals, having sustained head injuries.
The 17-year-old and 18-year-old occupants of the VW were injured but only required outpatient treatment. They have since been discharged from the hospital.
The driver of the VW, who is 44 years old, stated that his brake pedal had no effect, causing the vehicle to be secured for a technical assessment. The Mercedes was also deemed no longer roadworthy.
A specialized commission of the Police Directorate 1 (North) has taken over further investigations, but no further details about the cause of the accident have been released. The driver of the police team that took over the investigation at the intersection is not publicly disclosed.
The accident investigation resumed after 6:45 PM, and the intersection was reopened, allowing bus line 221 to resume its service.
Both vehicles are still deemed no longer roadworthy. The 44-year-old VW driver and the 46-year-old passenger in the Mercedes continue to receive treatment in hospitals, and their condition remains unknown.
The specialized commission of the Police Directorate 1 (North) continues to investigate the traffic accident. The public is asked to cooperate and provide any information that could aid in the investigation.
