In the early hours of August 27, 2025, a significant traffic accident was reported in Greifswald. The incident occurred around 08:45, and involved a bus and a Ford car.

According to the Police Inspectorate Anklam, the 70-year-old driver of the Ford car was traveling on the Güstrower Landstraße when he stopped at the stop line of a junction with two consecutive traffic lights. Simultaneously, the 25-year-old driver of the bus, who was unable to prevent a collision despite braking heavily, collided with the Ford car.

The impact of the collision resulted in severe injuries for the 70-year-old driver of the Ford car, and his 41-year-old passenger sustained slight injuries. Both individuals were taken to a hospital for immediate medical attention. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in the bus.

The front light of the junction turned yellow at the time of the accident, and the estimated damage to property from the incident is approximately 30,000 euros. The police have initiated an investigation on suspicion of negligent bodily harm.
