Collision on a public road involving a school bus veers off into a shallow ditch and green lanes near POL-PDMY.
On November 20, 2024, a significant traffic accident occurred on the K18 towards Adenau. According to the Police Directorate Mayen, the incident involved a school bus and a waste collection vehicle operated by Müllentsorgung Schmidt GmbH.
The school bus, carrying 12 children aged between 11 and 14 years old, along with the driver, was traveling from Adenau towards Wimbach, while the waste collection vehicle was heading in the opposite direction. Tragically, the waste collection vehicle did not remain at the scene after the accident.
During the incident, the school bus veered off the road to the right, sliding into a roadside ditch or green strip. Fortunately, all occupants of the school bus remained unharmed. After the accident, the children were transported to their destination using a replacement vehicle.
The Police Inspectorate Adenau (PHK C. Schmitz, Tel.: 02691-9250) is investigating the case and is appealing for witnesses to come forward. The Adenau police (Tel.: 02691-9250) are also asking for any information regarding the hit-and-run accident on K18 near Eifelstadion Adenau.
