Collision on Autobahn A3 near Regensburg due to reckless lane change - motorist vanished afterward
In the early hours of this morning, an unexpected incident occurred on the A3 motorway between the Regensburg-Ost and Burgweinting exits. An unidentified driver, who suddenly changed lanes without due care, caused a multi-car collision that resulted in significant property damage but thankfully, no injuries.
The accident, which unfolded around 8 a.m., involved a 35-year-old woman who initially collided with the central barrier and was thrown across all three lanes. During the collision, she brushed against another car. Despite the dramatic course of events, the woman and all other parties involved managed to escape unscathed.
The total property damage to the vehicles involved is estimated to be approximately 60,000 euros. The Nuremberg-bound lane was completely closed for approximately 15 minutes while the Regensburg Professional Fire Brigade and the Neutraubling Volunteer Fire Brigade worked to clear the scene.
Traffic was diverted past the accident site using two lanes to ensure the safety of other motorists. The Regensburg Traffic Police Inspectorate is seeking information about the accident as well as the fugitive vehicle that fled the scene following the incident.
