Collision on Highway 555 (BAB) recently occurred
In the afternoon of Monday, 4th August, a serious traffic accident occurred on the federal motorway 555 (A555) heading towards Bonn. The incident, which took place near Wesseling, has resulted in ongoing investigations and significant traffic disruptions.
According to reports, a motorcyclist (29) was traveling on the left lane of the A555 towards Bonn when he was involved in an accident. The accident occurred around 5:30 PM. A Tesla driver (29) driving in front of the motorcyclist on the left lane reportedly struck the motorcyclist with the rear end of his vehicle.
The aftermath of the accident led to the closure of the Cologne-bound lane due to the deployment of a rescue helicopter. However, the lane has since reopened. In the direction of Bonn, police are routing traffic past the accident site in a single lane configuration to manage the traffic flow.
The accident site remains active for ongoing investigation, with the police actively managing traffic around the area. The name or identity of the Tesla driver involved in the accident on August 4th near Wesseling on the A555 has not been publicly disclosed.
The motorcyclist, who was seriously injured in the accident, switched to the right lane in a construction zone before the Wesseling exit. It is unclear at this time what led to the collision.
The traffic situation on the A555 in the direction of Bonn is currently affected by the ongoing investigation and single lane traffic management. Drivers are advised to expect delays and to allow extra travel time.
