Collisions at Werder Trailers' Velodrome

In a tense and chaotic scene in Bremen on Saturday, around 600 supporters of SV Werder Bremen embarked on a joint bicycle procession from Unisee, heading towards the Weserstadion. However, before they reached the Gustav-Deetjen Tunnel near the main train station, the procession was halted by the police.

The incident occurred prior to Werder Bremen's first home match against Bayer 04 Leverkusen. The bicycle procession was part of a fan action, but it quickly turned sour when participants attempted to break through a police line at the Gustav-Deetjen Tunnel.

Force was used by the law enforcement officers as they tried to maintain order, with some individuals from the group resorting to physical aggression. A minor traffic accident occurred between a cyclist from the Werder Bremen supporters' group and a tram at the Sielwall intersection. The cyclist, in a fit of anger, struck the tram's window after the accident.

The most disturbing incident involved several individuals attacking the tram driver, resulting in his injury. The driver had to be rescued by the police, who used batons to free him from the hostile crowd. The tram driver exited the vehicle following the cyclist's actions.

Bremen ultras were reported to have insulted police officers from Bavaria who had come to support in a derogatory manner. The disruption caused by the supporters' actions led to the cancellation of the bicycle procession, and the situation was eventually brought under control by the police.

This incident serves as a reminder of the potential for violence and chaos that can erupt among football fans, even in a supposedly festive atmosphere such as a bicycle procession. It is hoped that such incidents will be avoided in the future, allowing fans to enjoy the game in a safe and peaceful environment.
