Colorado law enforcement agencies suspect the park ranger stabbing was a targeted attack
In Colorado on August 19, a series of shocking events unfolded that have left the community in a state of concern.
Aerial footage from Denver ABC affiliate KMGH showed heavily armed officers searching Staunton State Park, as authorities were on the hunt for a suspect involved in a tragic stabbing case. The suspect in question is identified as Jake Peterson, according to the latest updates. However, earlier reports did not disclose the suspect's name.
The incident, which occurred at 5:15 PM, has left four family members, including two children, dead. The police found their bodies in a home, but the motive for the stabbing remains under investigation. The sheriff's office has not yet disclosed why they believe it was targeted.
In a separate, but equally concerning event, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning not to eat possibly radioactive shrimp sold at Walmart. The incident occurred at 9:57 AM on the same day. The FDA is urging consumers who have bought the affected shrimp to return it to the store for a refund.
Staunton State Park was closed to the public and visitors were evacuated due to the ongoing search for the suspect. The park remains closed as of the latest update.
This is a developing story and more information will be released as it becomes available. Stay tuned for updates.
