Commemoration Event Scheduled for September 14th

Euskirchen, a city rich in history and culture, is set to unveil a series of captivating events and exhibitions that delve into the city's transformation from the aftermath of World War II to the present day.

The highlight of these events is the special exhibition, Rebirth in Peace. Euskirchen 1945-1961, showcased at the Euskirchen City Museum. The exhibition offers a poignant journey through the city's recovery and evolution, culminating in the founding of the twin city partnership between Euskirchen and Charleville in 1961.

Admission to all events in Euskirchen is free, making it an accessible and enjoyable experience for all.

The Rhenish Association for Monument Preservation and Landscape Protection e.V. will also be participating, offering insights into their work and support of building and landscape monuments at the "Casino" society house. The vaulted cellars of this Art Deco-style building, rebuilt in 1928, have recently been cleaned, providing a stunning backdrop for the association's presentations.

Guided tours are offered at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm on the topic of "80 Years After the War's End in Euskirchen". These tours will provide a comprehensive understanding of the city's post-war journey.

On September 14th, 2025, historic monuments in Euskirchen city center will be open to the public from 11 am to 5 pm. This includes the Evangelical Church, rebuilt in 1952 after the war, featuring a semicircular staircase, plaster strips, cornices, basalt columns, corner quaderings, and a bell tower. Guided tours of the Evangelical Church tower will be available every hour starting from 11 am, with the last tour starting at 4 pm.

The Prussian Locomotive Shed, built in 1885, will also be open, with the Eisenbahnfreunde Euskirchen e.V. explaining the details of the "Zucker-Susi" locomotive on display.

The cultural and support association CASINO e.V. will open the halls of the "Casino" society house, presenting the ecumenical project "Living Cemetery" at the cemetery.
