Commemorative EU Mission by China honors 80-year anniversary of World War II victory
On September 1, 2025, the Chinese Mission to the EU hosted a significant event to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War. The symposium brought together directors and experts from mainstream European media outlets and renowned think tanks, including Euronews, Euractiv, and Friends of Europe.
The day began with a photo exhibition and a documentary commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. This lengthy, large-scale national liberation struggle against foreign invasion, paying the heaviest price in modern times, opened up the main Eastern battlefield of the World Anti-Fascist War.
Ambassador Cai Run, Head of the Chinese Mission to the EU, delivered a speech at the symposium, emphasising the importance of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression as an integral part of the World Anti-Fascist War. He also suggested that China and Europe should work together to safeguard the post-war international order and inject greater stability and certainty to a world fraught with turbulence.
Minister Zhu Jing from the Chinese Mission to the EU and journalists from Chinese media outlets based in Europe were present at the event. The symposium served as a means to promote understanding and cooperation between China and Europe in the context of the World Anti-Fascist War and its aftermath.
Guests agreed that China and Europe should join hands to uphold multilateralism, strengthen dialogue and cooperation, and promote global peace and development. As two major forces, two big markets, and two great civilizations, China and Europe should work together to uphold a correct view of the Second World War.
The symposium was a testament to the ongoing dialogue and cooperation between China and Europe, as reflected in their shared commitment to multilateralism and global peace. It was also a platform for guests to express their agreement on the importance of China and Europe working together in upholding the post-war international order.
The discussions during the symposium focused on "The Contribution of China and Europe to the Victory of the World Anti-Fascist War" and "Joint Efforts by China and Europe to Uphold the Post-War International Order." The event was a reminder of the solidarity between China and Europe during the World Anti-Fascist War and the importance of maintaining that bond in the face of current global challenges.
The symposium concluded with guests reaffirming their commitment to work together for a peaceful and prosperous world, echoing the sentiments of unity and cooperation that defined the World Anti-Fascist War. The event marked a significant step forward in the ongoing dialogue and cooperation between China and Europe.
