The Bergisches Museum for Mining, Crafts, and Trade in Bergisch Gladbach recently hosted an event to discuss the redesign of the museum as part of the "Museum Lab - Shaping the Museum Together" project. Around 80 citizens attended the opening, sharing their ideas for the museum's future.

Laura Oehms, the project coordinator, was pleased to have reached a diverse audience with the invitation. The large turnout was also celebrated by Willi Carl, chairman of the museum's support association, who expressed that the event showed the museum moves people in the city.

The project is supported by the Rhine Regional Association, the museum's support association, and the KΓ€mmpgen Foundation with around 81,000 euros. The museum itself, along with partners involved in collaborative museum and educational initiatives, are also backing the project. However, specific supporting persons or groups are not named in the provided search results.

The special exhibition "Celebrating Half-Time: Midterm Review at the Museum Lab" is now on display at the museum from February 2, 2023, to April 2, 2023. The exhibition presents a selection of ideas and wishes for the museum's future, aiming to spark discussion and further contributions.

Ragnar Migenda, Bergisch Gladbach's city councilor for urban development and climate protection, gave a welcoming speech at the opening. Martin Holst, a member of the Bergisch Gladbach Inclusion Council, also spoke about the importance of thinking about new concepts inclusively.

The museum was inaugurated on February 2, 2023, by Mayor Frank Stein. The project "Museum Lab - Shaping the Museum Together" began in the summer of 2022 with the goal of developing a future-proof and sustainable concept for the museum by September 2023.
