Commencement exercises at University of Pforzheim's campus
Last Friday, the CongressCentrum Pforzheim played host to the LAUDATIO graduation ceremony for the faculties of Technology, Business, and Law at Pforzheim University. The event, which takes place every eight months, was moderated by Professor Dr. Markus-Oliver Schwaab and Baden TV presenter Sarah Eid.
A total of 305 graduates celebrated their degree completion from 22 Bachelor and 11 Master programs. Among the first graduates were those from the part-time MBA Management program and the Master's program in Corporate Communication Management. For the first time, graduates received an exclusive pin with the new university logo, which is not available for purchase.
Dr. Fritz Gairing, a professor in the Personal Management program, delivered a keynote speech emphasizing the social responsibility of university graduates. He based his speech on the three core questions of the Enlightenment: "What can we know? What may we hope? What should we do?" In his speech, Dr. Gairing stressed the need for graduates to use their reason constructively and responsibly, rather than indulging in blind and passionate emotions. He also quoted Steve Jobs, saying "The only way to do great work is to love what you do".
Ulrich Jautz, Rector of Pforzheim University, welcomed graduates at the CongressCentrum Pforzheim. He encouraged graduates to follow their passion and not be discouraged by skeptics or pessimists. After the keynote speech, graduates were congratulated by the deans of the faculties of Technology and Business and Law.
The event was musically accompanied by the band "Miss Kavila". The LAUDATIO ceremony for the faculties of Technology, Business, and Law is a significant milestone for the university, which currently has 6,300 students enrolled.
The first LAUDATIO ceremony was held in 2012, making this the tenth such event. The LAUDATIO is a unique graduation ceremony that brings together students, faculty, and the wider community to celebrate academic achievements. The next LAUDATIO ceremony is scheduled for later this year.
