Accident on the B212 in Nordenham Leaves One Critically Injured
In a tragic incident that unfolded on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, a traffic accident occurred on the B212 in Nordenham, a town located in Delmenhorst, Oldenburg, and Wesermarsch.
The accident, which took place around 07:45, involved a small car and a 7.5-tonner truck. According to Albert Seegers, the head of the press department of the police inspection of Delmenhorst/Oldenburg-Land/Wesermarsch, the driver of the small car veered off the road while negotiating a curve.
The driver of the small car then entered oncoming traffic on the left, leading to a collision with the truck. As a result, the 78-year-old man from Nordenham was trapped in his car and sustained life-threatening injuries.
Forty-three firefighters from Nordenham and Abbehausen were quickly deployed to free the 78-year-old. The driver of the truck, a 60-year-old man from the Cuxhaven district, and his 16-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries and were also taken to hospitals.
The accident resulted in significant damage, with both vehicles no longer roadworthy. The total damage amounted to approximately 15,000 euros. The federal road was closed following the accident and reopened around 12:30 after the roadway was cleaned.
The 78-year-old man was taken to a hospital in a critical condition. The driver of the small car has not been identified at this time.
