The German government, formed by a coalition of the CDU/CSU (Union) and the SPD, has shown signs of unity as they continue to work towards addressing significant issues.

In a positive turn of events, both SPD parliamentary group leader Matthias Miersch and CDU/CSU parliamentary group leader Jens Spahn have expressed confidence in the grand coalition's ability to move Germany forward.

Spahn, in a conversation with Reuters, emphasized that the coalition will tackle necessary reforms, with an honest approach being key to their success. He also mentioned that they will be holding summits for the steel and automotive industries, aiming to move away from the character of crisis summits.

The coalition has set dates for three more coalition committee meetings, scheduled until Christmas. These meetings are aimed at resolving differences of opinion and moving forward with unity.

Despite not resulting in any concrete agreements on specific projects, the coalition committee has shown that the black-red coalition is coming out of the summer break well and united.

Spahn also stated that social security contributions should not continue to rise, a stance that reflects the coalition's commitment to supporting the German economy.

Moreover, the coalition has agreed that plugging the hole in the 2027 budget is a task for the entire government, not just the finance minister. However, as of now, there are no specific publicized detailed solutions for the budget gap in 2027 from these coalition parties.

The next important step will be the budget negotiations in the coming weeks. The coalition leaders have been working on developing a common understanding, with three more coalition committee meetings scheduled to help in this process.

As the coalition continues to work towards finding solutions, they aim to strengthen industry and the medium-sized sector, a crucial part of the German economy.

The meetings are a positive sign that the coalition is committed to addressing the challenges facing Germany and working towards a brighter future for the country.
