Festive Gathering: Schöntal Picnic

Communal Gathering dubbed as "Picnic in Schöntal Valley"

The city of Aschaffenburg, in collaboration with various associations, is hosting a family festival on Sunday, July 13th, from 12:30 PM to 5 PM. The event, known as the "Picnic in der Schönthal", will transform the entire park around the Blue Piano into a colorful meeting place for all ages.

The picnic location, Schönthal, holds historical significance as it is the site of a knife attack on January 22, 2025. However, this Sunday promises to be a day of unity against exclusion and violence, as the festival encourages city residents to come together.

The festival offers interactive activities for children and families along the paths and under the trees, organised by Migrants for Migrants e.V., One Day e.V., GESTA e.V., MIZ e.V., and other associations. Refreshments will be available from Frida's ice cream truck and the Aschaffenburg Solidarity Coffee wagon.

Meanwhile, the meadow by the Blue Piano will host a diverse stage program, including music, theater, and artistic performances. Highlights of the stage program include the Circus Theo d'Or, the street magic show "Magician Wunderlich", the puppet show "The Emperor's New Clothes", and a family concert with "Geraldino & the Plomsters".

Visitors are invited to bring their own food for a communal picnic under the open sky. A special interactive and discussion offer for children and adults is planned at the memorial site from 1 PM.

The collaborators for this offer include churches, the two Moroccan mosques, and the city of Aschaffenburg's integration guides and family support points. The family festival aims to create space for encounter, exchange, and shared remembrance.
