In a bid to address the increased vulnerability of modern enterprises to cyberattacks, especially in edge environments, Commvault has expanded its HyperScale line with the addition of HyperScale Edge and HyperScale Flex.

HyperScale Edge, designed for Small and Medium-sized Businesses (SMBs) with limited IT resources and space, provides localized data protection and recovery. It can be deployed using the HyperScale Reference Architecture on approved servers from Dell, HPE, and Lenovo.

On the other hand, HyperScale Flex delivers scalable backup and recovery with a flexible architecture that connects to external flash storage pools. It is currently open to early adopter customers and is designed for large-scale, data-intensive, and AI-driven workloads across industries such as technology, telecom, and healthcare. HyperScale Flex is compatible with Pure Storage and VAST Data storage solutions.

Pranay Ahlawat, Chief Technology and AI Officer of Commvault, stated that every enterprise is striving for cyber resilience. Both new offerings from Commvault are delivered as a software image that can easily be installed on validated hardware, similar to HyperScale X.

The 2024 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report revealed a dramatic surge in attacks, with breaches exploiting edge devices and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) rising to 22%, an eightfold increase from the previous year. This surge in cyberattacks highlights the need for solutions like HyperScale Edge and HyperScale Flex, which are designed to strengthen cyber resilience and provide greater flexibility, performance, and cyber resilience across diverse environments.
