Companies discover alternative paths to self-reliance by leveraging cloud technology, artificial intelligence, and open-source software to shed reliance on proprietary systems.

The IT Summit 2025 is set to take place at the Nemetschek House in Munich on November 11 and 12, bringing together IT decision-makers, experts from business, science, and politics for a two-day event focused on digital sovereignty, reducing dependencies, and increasing independence in IT.

Frank Benke from the HAHN Automation Group will be sharing the open-source strategy of a globally operating SME, providing insights into central server applications, desktop applications, and the impact on independence and operational stability.

The keynote speaker for the second day of the summit has not yet been announced, but notable speakers, such as Prof. Dr. Ayelt Komus, are mentioned for events in Munich around the same time.

The summit's program, designed by the iX editorial team, includes practical case studies, technical insights, and strategic context. Notable speakers include Marcus SchrΓΆder, General Commissioner of Financial Informatics, who will present how locally operated AI benefits savings bank advisors in the financial sector, and Nikolaus Schmidt, IT chief of Commerz Real, who will discuss the company's hybrid cloud strategy and migration of workloads from a US hyperscaler to a European provider.

The focus of the summit is on reducing dependence on US hyperscalers and emphasizing European cloud hosts as an alternative. Open source will be used as a tool for independence in IT. The event aims to demonstrate paths to robust, future-proof IT, covering architectural decisions, platform selection, and organizational embedding.

Early bird tickets for the IT Summit 2025 are still available. The complete program for the event can be found online. AI will be operated locally to keep sensitive data within the company. The IT Summit 2025 is aimed at IT decision-makers who want to reduce dependencies and increase independence in their IT.
