Companies in Latin America that champion gender equality in the workforce outshine their counterparts in terms of performance
The Women's Forum Brazil, now in its second edition, has attracted 500 Latin American business leaders, including a record number of CEO champions. This year's event featured influential figures such as Andrea Alvarez (Pepsico), Michel Levy (Microsoft), Ana Maria Fernandes (EDP Energias do Brasil), and many more.
The forum, which aims to foster gender diversity in leadership roles, discussed various aspects of the ongoing issue of women at home and men in leadership positions in Brazil. However, specific facts regarding this topic were not disclosed.
A recent study by McKinsey has shed light on the importance of gender diversity in leadership teams and its impact on financial performance. The study revealed that companies with women on their executive committees perform better in Latin America, with a return on equity that is 44% higher compared to those without. Furthermore, 60% of surveyed executives recognized the positive impact of gender diversity on their companies' financial performance.
Isabelle Lefort, a notable figure at the event, was hailed as the hero of the Women's Forum Brazil, but further details about her role were not provided. Beth Brooke (Ernst & Young), Juan Pablo Urruticoechea (Sodexo), and VΓ©ronique Morali were also present at the first session of the forum.
Despite the increasing contribution of women to the economy and family income, which has grown by 8% over the past 20 years, only 7% of Latin American companies have women on their executive committees. On a positive note, 28% of women are board members in Latin American companies, according to unspecified data.
The second edition of the Women's Forum Brazil has garnered significant attention, with 500 women in action, aiming to drive change and promote gender diversity in leadership roles. The event serves as a platform for these women leaders, including Paloa Kiwi (Tupperware), Celina Antunes (Cushman and Wakefield), Irlau Machadau (AC Camargo), and many others, to share their experiences and insights.
Companies such as Morgan Stanley, Mercer, Alcoa, Embraer, Tam Airlines, Avon, Michelin, Editora Globo, Guy Carpenter, Unimed Seguro, Dudalina, and Sodexo, among others, are represented at the forum, demonstrating a commitment to gender diversity in leadership. The forum provides an opportunity for these companies to discuss strategies for improving gender diversity and fostering a more inclusive business environment.
