In the picturesque town of Landshut, Germany, a unique exchange program is underway, bringing together young athletes from two rowing clubs: the "Landshuter Ruderverein von 1952" and "Sport Nautique Compiègnoise" (SNC) from France.

The current visit by the French rowers to Landshut is part of an exchange program initiated by rowing coach Dr. Winfried Benda. This year's exchange program follows a similar visit by a group from Landshut to France last year for training and exploration.

Deputy Mayor Dr. Thomas Haslinger, representing Mayor Alexander Putz, was present at a welcome ceremony in the town hall's ceremonial hall. He underscored the importance of reciprocal visits between partner cities in strengthening ties.

Mayor Putz emphasized that understanding between peoples is crucial in the current uncertain global situation and ongoing war in Europe. He expressed gratitude towards the responsible persons of both clubs for their commitment.

Carolin Soika, chairperson of the Youth Council, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the importance of exchange programs in bringing people together through sports, culture, and language. She expressed her gratitude towards the responsible persons of both clubs for their commitment to the exchange program.

The exchange program involves young athletes from both clubs participating in rowing activities on the Isar river. Last year, German sports clubs also participated in the exchange activity in France and visited the town of Compiègne as part of a program organized by DJK, where participants from Germany, France, Romania, Czechia, and Austria took part; specific German clubs are not named in the available information.

The sports exchange was initiated by Dr. Benda, who made contact with the SNC through his clubmate Luc Leguan, who comes from Compiègne. The exchange program is scheduled to conclude on Saturday.

Mayor Putz emphasized that the reciprocal visits of young athletes are significant in further strengthening ties between partner cities. He expressed his hope that this exchange program will foster long-lasting friendships and mutual understanding between the young athletes of both nations.
