The motorsport scene in Kenya is set for a revival, as the 2025 Autocross and Autocross Plus Championship prepares to take place at the Stoni Athi Resort and Ranch near Nairobi. The two-day event, sponsored by Tai Racing and Shell, is opening its field wide to more than 40 entries, marking a significant step forward for the sport in the country.

The newly formed 254 Motorsports Club has played a pivotal role in the revival of the championship. With a vision to pave the way for the registration of a new federation - Motorsport Kenya - the club has been instrumental in lowering participation costs, adopting a fresh grassroots approach, and injecting renewed energy into the sport.

The promise of young drivers, such as Michuki Hinga, son of rally veteran Charles Hinga, Adriano Varese, son of Leonardo Varese, and the Chatthe brothers' sons, continues the legacy of champion Jassi Chatthe. They will be joined by seasoned motorsport icons like Baldev Chagger, Asad Anwar, and Eric Bengi, who are returning to action.

Among the country's biggest names participating in the event are Karan Patel and Nikhil Sachania, both competing in the African Rally Championship (ARC). The Clerk of the Course, Muqsit Hussain, has expressed his happiness about the strong entry list for the event, with over 50 entries drawn - the highest in over ten years.

The 254 Motorsports Club has also introduced longer, rally-style stages as part of their grassroots initiative. This move is aimed at providing a challenging and exciting experience for all participants while fostering a competitive spirit that will help nurture the next generation of Kenyan motorsport champions.

The FIA Stars Champion Hamza Anwar is preparing to compete in the event, adding an extra level of excitement to the proceedings. With such a strong line-up of competitors, the 2025 Autocross and Autocross Plus Championship promises to be an unforgettable event that will mark a new era for Kenyan motorsport.

The Kenyan Motorsport Revival Organization (KMRO) has been advocating for the revival of motorsport in Kenya, and the 254 Motorsports Club's efforts are a testament to their work. By cutting costs and focusing on grassroots initiatives, the club is ensuring that more money goes back into the sport, contributing to its long-term sustainability and growth.

As the 2025 Autocross and Autocross Plus Championship approaches, the motorsport community in Kenya is buzzing with anticipation. The event, set to take place on Saturday, promises to be a thrilling spectacle that will showcase the best of Kenyan motorsport and herald a new era for the sport in the country.
