Confirmed scoop: Deepak Khetan named as Chief Financial Officer at Astrotalk ahead of planned Initial Public Offering (IPO)

Deepak Khetan, a seasoned financial professional with over two decades of experience across various sectors, has been appointed as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Astrotalk, an astrology consulting platform based in India.

Founded in 2017, Astrotalk has served more than 70 million customers and currently boasts over 700,000 daily active users. The platform operates on a revenue-sharing model with over 20,000 active astrologers.

Puneet Gupta, Founder and CEO of Astrotalk, expressed his excitement about Khetan's appointment, stating, "We wanted a strong leader with good pedigree and experience to handle our finances with airtight compliance. Khetan's responsibilities at Astrotalk include financial planning, compliance, risk management, investor relations, and preparing the company for its Initial Public Offering (IPO), which Astrotalk aims to complete within the next two years. He will also drive strategic investments, support international expansion, and build systems for long-term sustainable growth.

Khetan, a Chartered Accountant who secured an All India Rank 1 (AIR-1), brings a wealth of experience to Astrotalk. He has held senior leadership roles at GLS Group India, GlobalBees, Edelweiss Financial Services, YES Bank, ICICI Bank, and Gulf Islamic Investment.

In the fiscal year 2024 (FY24), Astrotalk reported a revenue run rate of Rs 1,600 crore (about $192 million) and posted operating revenue of Rs 651 crore. Net profit surged over ten-fold to Rs 94 crore in FY24. The company last raised $14 million in 2024.

Khetan's aim is to build the financial discipline and systems to support Astrotalk's ambitions for years to come. He plans to shape broader business decisions for Astrotalk and help the company generate 40% of its revenue from overseas markets in the coming years.

Astrotalk's pricing ranges from Rs 10 to Rs 200 per minute, making it an affordable option for many seeking astrological consultations. With Khetan's expertise, the company is poised to continue its growth and success in the astrology consulting industry.
