Conflict en route to Europe's borders
On Thursday, April 9, 2025, a traffic accident occurred in the city centre of Aachen. The incident took place at around 1:30 PM, near the intersection of Hermann-Ritter-Straße and Europastraße.
According to the initial investigation, a 32-year-old man from Stolberg was driving a car on Hermann-Ritter-Straße, attempting to turn left onto Europastraße. Unfortunately, he failed to notice another car approaching from the same direction, which was turning left into Schellerweg.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 46-year-old man from Brandis (Beucha) near Leipzig, was driving an Opel Corsa. Due to inappropriate speed, he lost control of his vehicle, causing the collision. As a result, the 32-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was trapped in his vehicle.
The Europastraße was closed in the accident area for an hour and a half while emergency services attended to the scene. The 50-year-old man from Würselen, who was driving the other car, sustained minor injuries.
