Congested traffic flow on the B10 to B14 highway is deliberately planned

Construction on a stormwater pond at the B10's exit to the B14, overseen by the Rems-Murr district authorities, necessitates a lane closure on the B10 from August 25 to August 27.

The Landratsamt Rems-Murr is set to conduct cleaning and maintenance work on a rain retention basin at the exit of the B10 onto the B14, starting from Monday, August 25, and lasting until Wednesday, August 27.

This work is part of a series of measures aimed at maintaining functional road drainage and securing infrastructure. The rain retention basin, a key component of road drainage systems, plays an important role in safety, as it can retain dangerous substances in the event of an accident involving oil or chemicals, preventing environmental damage.

During the work, one lane on the B10 will be closed, which may cause delays for motorists exiting the B10 and traveling on the B14 towards Waiblingen. Road users are advised to expect delays and merge early.

The purpose of the rain retention basin is to collect and temporarily store excess water during heavy rain, protect water bodies, and support the natural water balance. Solid substances such as tire wear, gravel, packaging waste, or other solids settle in the basin, allowing the water to be cleaned before it is slowly and controlled released into a watercourse.

The inspection of the rain retention basin, which will take place after the cleaning work, is on behalf of the Stuttgart Regional Council. It will assess the condition and functionality of the basin.

The Rems-Murr district office at Rainbehalter near the A10 exit to the A14 will also be working from August 25 to 27 due to scheduled cleaning or maintenance activities. Such operations in this area are typically necessary several times a year to ensure safety and proper functioning.

In recent weeks, the Road Construction Office has cleaned two other rain retention basins on the B14 during the full closure of the Kappelberg tunnel. The work on the B10/B14 represents the final phase of these measures.

The Rems-Murr district apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the closures during the cleaning and maintenance work. The work is necessary to ensure long-term traffic safety. Once completed, the road will return to normal, ensuring the safe and efficient flow of traffic for motorists.
