Construction of Frankfurt Dam Concludes Ahead of Schedule
In the bustling city of Cologne, good weather and smooth progress have accelerated the construction timeline for a significant traffic improvement project. The construction work, which began on July 8th at the intersection of Frankfurter Damm and "Vieh", is expected to be completed much earlier than anticipated.
The project aimed to enhance the flow of traffic by separating right-turners to the city motorway from straight-ahead drivers. As part of this, a separate turning lane for vehicles heading towards the city motorway from the forest has been constructed. Additionally, the road surface of "Vieh" in the area of the on and off-ramps has been repaired.
One of the noticeable changes for drivers will be the shortened green phase for right-turners to the city motorway and straight-ahead drivers at the traffic light system, which has been renewed at the intersection. The "gained" green time is allocated to the other direction, allowing more vehicles to pass from the direction of the city center, especially during peak times.
The traffic light regulating the single-lane passage at the intersection with Viehbachtalstraße will be turned off by the end of Wednesday, and the traffic light system at the junction will be removed entirely by the same day. Access to the city motorway will be reopened after the work on Viehbachstraße is completed, expected by September 13th.
The good news continues as the Frankfurter Damm will be open without restrictions starting September 5th. This early completion of the construction work is a significant relief for the commuters in Cologne, ensuring a smoother and more efficient journey through the city.
