Construction progresses at East Texas A&M University's new event center

East Texas A&M University Unveils New $70 Million Event Center

East Texas A&M University is set to enhance its campus with a new state-of-the-art Event Center, currently under construction by Hoar Construction. The architectural design is the work of Good Fulton & Farrell, with Gensler overseeing the project's construction.

The Event Center, spanning 65,000 square feet, will be a premier sports, entertainment, and student activity venue. It is expected to seat approximately 2,500 stadium spectators, along with a loge box accommodating 40 guests. The center will also feature two multipurpose press rooms, two suites, four locker rooms, and eight offices for coaching staff.

Inside the Event Center, visitors can expect to find video scoreboards, a training room, and a host of cutting-edge technology designed to elevate live events. Beyond the arena proper, the Event Center will feature a vast plaza area, an outdoor entertainment district with a performance stage, a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant, and over 800 new parking spaces.

The Event Center is part of a more extensive master development plan that envisions the inclusion of additional retail and entertainment facilities, an auxiliary gym, additional dining establishments, and a hotel. The Texas A&M University System is also planning additional projects, including the construction of the Aplin Center at Texas A&M University.

The new Event Center is being constructed along State Highway 24 on the southern edge of the Commerce, Texas campus. Once completed, it will serve as a versatile venue for concerts, conventions, and graduations, contributing significantly to campus visibility and attracting more students and visitors to the university.

Lead designer for the project is Ana Kurzan of Gensler. The construction and development of the Event Center are expected to contribute positively to the local economy, creating job opportunities and stimulating growth in the area.
