In an exciting development for the UK's life sciences sector, UBS Asset Management and Reef Group have received approval to construct a new Life Sciences campus in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. Named 'Elevate Quarter', this state-of-the-art facility is expected to span 1.4 million square feet.

The new campus will be built alongside GSK's existing Global research and development facility, further solidifying Stevenage's position as a hub for life sciences innovation. The campus will consist of 15 buildings, which will be used for research and development labs, offices, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) facilities.

Olivia Drew, Portfolio Manager of Real Estate at UBS Asset Management, has stated that the delivery of the new life science campus will leverage years of unparalleled experience across both UBS and Reef. The buildings in the new campus have been carefully designed to be at the cutting edge of sustainability.

The new campus will facilitate world-leading research and development and advanced manufacturing. It is expected to support thousands of new jobs and will also include restaurants, cafes, and leisure facilities.

The construction of 'Elevate Quarter' is expected to begin towards the end of 2023, with phase one completion targeted for the fourth quarter of 2025. This new project builds on the developers' existing project in Stevenage - the redevelopment of 'The Forum' shopping centre, which received planning committee approval in February 2023. The redevelopment of 'The Forum' will provide 400,000 square feet of new GMP advanced manufacturing space in the town centre.

Three Green Transport Hubs will be included in the new development, offering multi-storey car parking and potential scooter/e-bike hire spaces. The new campus will boost the UK's position as a global life sciences leader.

It's worth noting that GSK's research centres are located worldwide, including in the UK, Japan, and India. However, the search results do not provide specific names of GSK representatives connected to the Life Sciences Campus in Stevenage, nor detailed information about which R&D or manufacturing facilities they work in on the site.

While this article does not delve into the details of the Somerset school or the regeneration of Salford mentioned in earlier search results, it's clear that the 'Elevate Quarter' project is set to make a significant impact on the life sciences sector in the UK.
