In the vibrant town of Euskirchen, the sports landscape is undergoing an exciting transformation. The latest addition to the lineup is Pickleball, a trendy sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis.

The inauguration of the new Pickleball court at the Erft sports facility was held under bright sunshine, with Mayor Sacha Reichelt and Markus Strauch, the head of the district sports association, officiating the first match. The court, a new addition to the sports facility, is now available for free use by all citizens.

The sports club responsible for the organisation of the Pickleball court inauguration is TuS 05 Arloff-Kirspenich e.V., with Udo Wiedemann serving as the managing director of the club. The sports box at the Erft sports facility now offers the option to borrow Pickleball rackets and balls, making it even more accessible for everyone to try out this exciting sport.

Pickleball is played with rackets over a net that is under a meter high on a small tennis court-like field. The rules of Pickleball are designed to facilitate smooth gameplay, with quick, sharply played balls that are designed to end the rally less frequently compared to other sports.

The inaugural match at the Erft sports facility was a hard-fought game, showcasing the sport's growing popularity in the region. The range of sports in Euskirchen has been expanded with the addition of Pickleball, joining the recently opened skate park and pumptrack.

This expansion of sports in Euskirchen continues the town's commitment to providing numerous free opportunities for physical activity. The sports facility at the Erft now offers Pickleball as an activity, adding to its existing offerings that include fitness, basketball, Frisbee golf, and more. During the booking period, the sports box can be opened and closed as often as desired, making it easy for players to organise their games.

The sports box can be reserved for free using a mobile app for a certain number of hours. So, if you're looking for a new and exciting way to stay active, head over to the Erft sports facility and give Pickleball a try! The mayor expressed hope that many people will do just that, and we can't wait to see the Pickleball community grow in Euskirchen.
