Controversy arises around Julia Roberts' movie "After the Hunt" at the Venice Film Festival due to its #MeToo-themed discussions.

The 82nd edition of the Venice Film Festival is currently underway, and among the highly anticipated premieres is Luca Guadagnino's latest film, "After the Hunt." Joining the lineup alongside Guillermo del Toro's "Frankenstein," Benny Safdie's "The Smashing Machine," and Kathryn Bigelow's "A House of Dynamite," this intriguing drama has already stirred up quite a buzz.

Luca Guadagnino, known for his previous Venice Film Festival contributions such as "Queer" and "Bones & All," has once again brought a thought-provoking piece to the festival. "After the Hunt" delves into the complex world of higher education, where Julia Roberts plays a beloved philosophy professor, and Ayo Edebiri portrays her mentee who accuses a colleague (Andrew Garfield) of misconduct.

The film's screenplay does not offer easy or simple resolutions, reflecting the nuanced nature of the issues it explores. In an interesting nod to Woody Allen's work, Guadagnino chose a Windsor-style typeface for the opening credits, reminiscent of Allen's films from 1985 to 1991.

Julia Roberts, making her first appearance at the Venice Film Festival, believes that the film's purpose is to provoke conversations and stir up feelings and emotions. The tagline on the poster for "After the Hunt" reads, "not everything is supposed to make you feel comfortable."

However, the film has faced criticism, with Roberts and Guadagnino fielding questions about the potential complicity of their work in undermining the feminist movement and the #MeToo movement. After its screening at the festival, the film quickly sparked debate and received a six-minute ovation.

"After the Hunt" will be released in North American theaters on October 10 by Amazon MGM Studios. Despite not competing for awards at the Venice Film Festival, this controversial drama is sure to spark important discussions and leave a lasting impact.

In a city as magical as Venice, "After the Hunt" promises to be a cinematic experience that challenges audiences and encourages them to confront uncomfortable truths.
