Successful Job Placement Event in Regensburg Counters Skilled Worker Shortage

In a bid to address the growing shortage of skilled workers in the care, household services, and support sectors, a job placement event was held at the Regensburg district job center. The event, organised by economic development agencies, regional management, job centers, and the Regensburg employment agency, was the sixth of its kind and proved to be a resounding success.

A total of 157 conversations took place between approximately 100 applicants and employers, with one job offer already made and further conversations in the concrete initiation phase. The Bavarian State Minister, Dr. Fabian Mehring, participated in the event, highlighting its importance in securing skilled workers for the social sector. Bavarian State Minister Tanja Schweiger emphasised that such job placement events create opportunities and concrete prospects.

The event used a structured placement format, with participants having personal conversations with employers every 20 minutes. The JobCheck, a preparatory event held in cooperation with the Health Region Regensburg, ensured that applicants were well-prepared for the event. The regional management project is funded by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy.

The job placement event is part of the cooperation project "Increase in employment potential of 'hidden reserves' and refugees". Almost a third of the contacts made at the event have already resulted in an invitation for a follow-up interview, suggesting the event's effectiveness in creating opportunities and concrete prospects.

For those interested in economic development in the Regensburg district, the contact email is [email protected]. The contact phone number is 0941/4009-593. The economic development agencies of the district and city, job centers, and employment agency plan to continue offering the successful job placement format regularly.

The success of the job placement event in Regensburg underscores the potential of such events in counteracting the shortage of skilled workers in crucial sectors. With more events like this, the region can look forward to a more skilled and productive workforce in the future.
